The Second Stork founding Executive Director will be responsible for all aspects of managing a small, growing human services nonprofit that distributes essential infant-care supplies to families in need through hospital partners in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and South Dakota.
The Executive Director will be an organization builder that marshals volunteer efforts to ensure that families with a newborn have immediate access to the care items necessary to give their baby a healthy, safe start in life.
The Executive Director will report to and partner with the working Board of Directors, will manage a committed, all-volunteer staff, and will perform the following essential functions:

Public Relations – Serve as the face of the organization; advocate for parents in need and for safe, healthy starts for newborns; raise public awareness of the organization; form strategic partnerships with a variety of stakeholders including major donors, health organizations, vendors, hospital administrators and other nonprofits with similar missions.
Operations Management – Build organization infrastructure; formalize internal processes and procedures to improve the organization’s efficiency, stability, and sustainability; coordinate marketing plans and social media presence; manage website content; supervise the procurement and distribution of infant-care supplies; recruit, organize, engage, motivate, and appreciate the volunteers running key parts of operations to help fulfill organization’s mission.
Fundraising – Lead development efforts; grow the number of new, monthly and annual individual donors to the organization; cultivate and maintain relationships with key donors; creatively start new fundraising projects; identify and apply for grants; plan fundraising events; streamline donor contact management system and acknowledgement processes.
Fiscal Management – Provide financial oversight; build and execute the organization’s annual budget; assure compliance with all requisite filings; monitor financial statements; provide information to support financial reporting to the board and finance committee.
Board Relations – Support work of Board of Directors with meeting planning, organization and preparation; help to recruit and orient new directors; engage board in fundraising activities, create a positive and effective working relationship with Board.
Strategic Leadership – Gain knowledge of the nonprofit field serving families in need and their infants; participate in strategic planning with the Board as a vision is developed for expanding the reach and scale of the operation; execute the strategic plan.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in business management, nonprofit management, social work, or related field. Master’s degree or additional certifications preferred.
● 5+ years of management or leadership experience
● Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office, contact management software, financial software, and cloud-based tools. Experience with web and social media platforms preferred.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Comfort and proficiency with public speaking

Compensation & Benefits
● $55,000-65,000 annual salary based on 25-30 hours per week
● Flexible hours
● On-site and remote work
● Stipend for benefits

Job Requirements
● Independent mobility throughout the Twin Cities metro area
● Working on-site at St. Paul warehouse limited weekly hours
● Office work, computer, and telephone usage
● Occasional evening and weekend hours
● Light lifting, possibly up to 20 pounds
● Other duties as identified
